The Perfect Pinterest Picnic

Summer has almost come and gone, but before it went, my friends and I decided that we wanted to throw the perfect Pinterest picnic. And what better occasion that for one of my best friend's birthday? Between five of us gals, we separated tasks to assure that everything went off without a hitch. First, we needed to decide the location. We knew we needed a big flat backyard to display everything. A nice beautiful big tree to hang lights on would be splendid as well. Her wonderful parents were glad to offer us their backyard. We checked that off the list and started planning the decorations. We needed lights, we needed candles and lots of pretty utensils. We decided on a white table cloth so that we could accent it with all of the table accessories. Since we constructed a table close to the ground, we also knew we needed something to sit on. We all gathered up any sort of quilt we could get our hands on, and it ended up being just enough. The pillows were the hard part. Between all of us, we didn't have enough throw pillows that we were willing to allow on the grass. I struck an idea and visited my local thrift store. Before long, I ventured home with a huge bag filled with big beautiful pillows. One of gals carefully wrote out name tags for each person. I picked up fresh flowers from the local market, and we were set. Lastly, we had to put together the food.

We wanted to make this picnic special all the way around, and that included the food! All of the gals pitched in so that we had a good enough budget to produce healthy tasty food. Everyone brought together the ingredients, and I orchestrated the cooking. Our menu looked something like this:

Menu

  1. Baked Herb Vegetables
  2. Fresh Watermelon
  3. Balsamic Basil Chicken
  4. Cranberry and Butternut Squash Quinoa
  5. Fresh Sourdough Bread
  6. Assortment of Cheese and Crackers
  7. Fresh Salad With a Homemade Blackberry Vinaigrette
  8. Caprese Salad
  9. Dark Chocolate Almonds
  10. Freshly Squeezed Rosemary Lemonade

To top it all off, we needed to dress the part. We decided to go Bohemian Chic. I am so blessed to have such beautiful friends!
